PRINCE STREET PIZZA INTRODUCES
“THE SOHO SQUARE”
NO OTHER SQUARE CAN COMPARE™
New Italian Eatery Opens With Custom Slices On Prince Street In SoHo at the Site of
the First Ray’s Pizza
NEW YORK, NY (January 4, 2012)—Opening on Wednesday, January 4,
SoHo will welcome its newest eatery in the form of
Prince Street Pizza, located at 27
Prince Street between Mott and Elizabeth. The intimate restaurant will
feature a combination of fun starters, calzones and unique pizza
options, including the in house favorite SoHo Squares. Named after
various streets in the neighborhood as an homage to the
owners’ childhood tradition of eating pizza with his family every
Sunday, there will be five different SoHo Squares including the Mercer
Margarita (thin crust pizza, marinara sauce, fresh mozzarella, basil and
garlic), the Broadway Breadcrumb (seasoned breadcrumbs
and tomato sauce) and the Spicy Spring (Fra Diavalo sauce, spicy
soprasetta& fresh mozzerella).
Beyond the custom slices, Prince Street Pizza will also feature four Neapolitan pizza
options including an old-school original 20” pie and the Boozy Broome
(vodka sauce,
fresh mozzarella) as well as a Humble Ham Calzone, Sassy Sopprasseta
Calzone and Cheese Please, Classic Cheese Calzone, served with a variety
of
dipping sauces. To start, customers will have a choice of classic
appetizers like the Stuffed Prosciutto Balls,
Neapolitan Rice Balls and the Crazy Calabrese (broccoli rabe &
garlic wrapped in a Chinese egg roll and served with sweet chili sauce).
“We wanted to open a place that served the type of great, comforting
pizza we grew up with,” said co-owner Frank Morano. “The menu is fun but
relatively limited because
we want to make sure everything we serve is the best in New York. The
SoHo Squares are the perfect mix of classic and new, guaranteed to have
you coming back for more.”
Opening at the site of the original Ray’s Pizza, first operated by
Luchese crime family member Ralph Cuomo, the location has its share of
history. Despite the name controversy
and rumored mob ties, Ray’s Pizza was always known for having great
pizza and Prince Street Pizza looks to continue that tradition.
Located in the heart of SoHo and featuring a traditional exposed brick
décor and seating for twelve, the restaurant will offer curb side pick
up allowing customers to
drive or bike up to the storefront and have their order brought out to
them. Prince Street Pizza aims to bring a neighborhood vibe to the area
and reflect back on days when pizza was a heartwarming family ritual.
Pushing quality over quantity, the limited
menu focuses on all natural, local ingredients and can be viewed in its
entirety here:
